Saturday saw the launch of Hospital Broadcasting
Week in the UK and HRST got involved with a live output in the foyer of the
Ingham Wing of the South Tyneside District Hospital. As well as raising
funds for the station, members presented a display of the 50 years of
history for HRST to help raise the public's awareness (more
details can be found here).
Chairman Ron Cameron said "Hospital Radio
South Tyneside are one of the oldest hospital radio services in the UK, 2006
sees our 50th anniversary so we felt it doubly important to do something
during Hospital Broadcasting Week. Although we have been broadcasting for
so long, the public's awareness of the service has reduced in recent years
but we now want to increase both the services we provide and the patients
awareness."
